Lower Cost of Living


Many people move to Texas because of the low cost of living, it’s ranked as being the 4th most affordable state in the country. It’s also one of the few states without an income tax.There is nothing better than a Texas home cooked meal. The state has some of the best barbecues in the country, which is why people travel thousands of miles, just to be able to experience an authentic Texas BBQ because, in Texas, beef is king. The city of Austin has some of the best BBQ in the state, including Franklin Barbecue, which was launched out of a trailer in 2009. The restaurant was ranked 50 best BBQ joints in the World. Depending on where you are in Texas, barbecue traditions can vary, there are four different styles, Central, East, South, and West Texas barbecue, but my personal favorite would have to be East Texas Style, which involves slow cooking the meat until it falls right off the bone.


Strong Economy


In addition to having a low cost of living, the state also has a low unemployment rate, which is currently lower than the national average and has been able to create more than 12,600 jobs in December alone. Texas continues to be one of the fastest growing states in the country and is one of the few states that were resilient to the global economic crash, if Texas was its own economy, it would be about the same size as Canada.


Southern Hospitality and Friendly People


One thing you’ll notice while living in Texas is their southern hospitality and kind attitude. While visiting Texas, I realized it was the friendliest place I’ve ever been to. Wherever I went, I was always greeted with a “Howdy ma’am” or “pleased to meet you” Everyone I encountered did their best to make sure my family and I felt welcome.


Sports Lovers


If you’re a sports lover, then you’re going to love living in Texas. The state prides itself in having some of the best teams in the world, including, The San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, and The Dallas Mavericks, who have collectively won more than 7 championships. If you’re more of a football fan, then there no experience greater than seeing the Dallas Cowboys play, The Dallas Cowboys are continually recognized as being one of the greatest football teams of all time, and have won more than 5 Super Bowl Championships, which is why they’re considered to be the most valuable franchise in the NFL.
